“I Could Never Do That”

This whole thing is completely new to me. I can’t say how many times I’ve bought a notebook and said to myself I’m going to start journaling. That became evident to me while cleaning out some things in my home. I found a notebook from my study abroad semester in 2014 and there was one journal entry for the whole four months. What caught my eye the most and made me laugh was the end of the entry it said in all caps, “I WANT TO TRAVEL THE WORLD”

Ten plus years later and A LOT of life, that is exactly what I’m going to do.

I’ve noticed while planning this trip and telling people what I am doing the first question is “are you going by yourself?” and with my answer being, “for most of it”, the next thing to come out of someone’s mouth is usually “I could never do that.” Not to toot my own horn (even though I am a Leo) but a lot of my adult life can be categorized into “I could never do that.” I studied abroad at 20, in a program where I didn’t know a single person. I moved to Miami for grad school, again not knowing anyone who lived in Miami. Then after a stint in Los Angeles, I made the decision to move home and work at my family’s business. For the last five years, I’ve spent almost every weekday and some weekends with my family, which to some people is something they “could never do”

So here I am, a few days away from doing another thing that other people “could never do” and I cannot wait. This trip is giving me the opportunity to find a potential place to live, learn about other cultures, explore new places, and so much more.

I honestly don’t know how blogging is going to go but I will try my best to keep up. What I do know is that I am excited to take you on this adventure with me.
